Learning about Measurement

In maths at the moment we are learning about measurement.  We are finding out what objects are taller and shorter.  We used a ruler to measure different objects in the classroom.  Leah and Micah measured Max.  He was 34cm tall.  What objects do you know are taller than Max?

Learning about Sugary Drinks

Today we learnt about sugary drinks.  Kim came to talk to us about the type of drinks that we should drink every day, drinks that we should drink sometimes and drinks that we should drink occasionally.  We learnt that fruit drinks and coke have ALOT of sugar in them and that milk is great for building strong bones and teeth.  We all agreed that tap water and milk should be our first choice drinks.  Kim told us how much sugar was in drinks.  How much sugar is in a can of coke??   

Room 1 and 2 Assembly

Last Friday Room 1 and 2 hosted the school assembly.  We performed our play called "Mrs Wishy-Washy".  Everyone had a part to play - a cow, a dog, a duck, a pig, Mrs Wishy-Washy, a washing machine and a mud puddle.  We used BIG voices and everyone laughed in the right places.  Then some of us read aloud our stories we have been writing in class about seasons. After that we sang and did the actions to two of our favourite songs.  We had alot of fun and Miss Parton and Mrs Marshall were REALLY proud of us!!

The Coolest Football Festival!!

Last Friday afternoon we had a Football Festival at school.  The whole school, including all the teachers and Mr MacDonnell was involved.  After lunch we got into house teams and played 8 minute games. Alot of kids were helping other kids.  We think we were all awesome Hinni Kids! It was so much fun! We hope to do it again soon.  Do you want to do it again??

Megan is a soccer super star!

In the weekend Megan won player of the day for soccer.  She brought her trophy to school and shared her exciting news with us.  Well done Megan - we all think you are a real SUPERSTAR!! We have had 2 people in Room 2 that have won trophies for player of the day.  If there are 20 people in Room 2, how many more trophies could we possibly win?

George wins player of the day!

On Saturday George played soccer for the Lions.  He scored 9 goals!!! 6 in the first game and 3 in the second game.  George brought his trophy to school today and shared his awesome news with us.  We are really proud of you George!

The Chiefs come to HInuera!!

Today the Chiefs came to Hinuera Rugby Field.  Our whole school went over to watch them train.  Jack thought they were "really fast".  George said "they are really big" and Juan said "they run fast".  Some of us in Room 2 want to be a Chiefs rugby player when we are older.....Unfortunately Sonny Bill Williams and Dan Carter were not there??!!
